Mockingjay- Growing Up With The Main Character

I would have liked to have grown up with Katniss in the book Mockingjay from the Hunger Games series because she would be a great friend/ companion/ lover. With the ability to hunt as well as she does and her knowledge of snares and traps, I would love for her to teach me and then we could be hunting partners. I would not like to grow up with her simply because of the things she had to go through, though I guess that is just tough luck. Another reason I would like to have grown up with her is so I could truly know how she feels about her family and her hatred for President Snow.

Mockingjay- Main Characters Most Pressing Problem

I believe that the main character, Katniss' most pressing problem in the story at this time is the fact that she basically lost Peeta to the Capitol. The Capitol used a method called "hijacking" to basically brainwash Peeta into wanting to kill Katniss. He remembers some things and isn't as focused on killing her anymore as he was before, but Katniss still doesn't know of a way to reverse the affects of the "hijacking".

Great Nights

Gunshots, explosions, incessant yelling and screeching of friends and team mates; these are the main sounds I hear almost every day. I spend almost every night, all night, playing Xbox online with my friends. We mostly play Call of Duty, but sometimes we end up playing Grand Theft Auto. These nights bring me joy, they bring me frustration from having to wail constantly at my brothers for being the most annoying people on the planet; these nights bring me comfort when I am feeling miserable. I can always count on my friends to cheer me up, even if it is by doing the most random things ever.

Like my friend Amber and I; she would start shrieking into the microphone, and I would shriek back, annoying everyone else but making ourselves laugh. Then there is Mallory, my girlfriend; she is always there for me to make sure I do not get to angry or try to injure my brothers, no matter how annoying they get. After all, my brothers are one of the main reasons I “rage” when I play Xbox. If I get killed too many times in a row, I start screaming and cursing at the players who can’t even hear me since I am in a party with no one but my friends. My friends laugh at my anger, which sometimes makes me laugh along with them; sometimes it makes me even more flustered.

Each day, all my friends and I: Amber, Colton, Tory, Chance, and Mallory, finish whatever homework we have and meet up with each other in a party on Xbox and in a match of whatever game we decide to play. This is how we escape the annoying reality of our lives. Each one of us has our own “gaming personality” which goes along with our every day normal personalities. I am constantly annoyed and angry at my brothers and other people, so naturally, I am the same way on Xbox. Amber is almost the same as me, though she has better control of it, so she only makes comments on how “this guy is such a camping idiot” and moves on and keeps shooting other enemy players.

Tory sits back, calm but concentrated on his objective in the game while Colton says and does the most random things, like trying to play while sitting upside down. Chance is almost never there in a sense, as he is almost always quiet and does not say anything. In the end, no matter how frustrated or angry I get, these are the nights that bring me the most joy, these are the greatest nights of my life

Mockingjay- My Character As A Very Old Person

I think that Haymitch Abernathy from the Hunger Games series would be just as he is now in the book when he is very old. A lazy, fat drunk who always sleeps with a knife in his hand without the knowledge of how to use it properly. I think that is how he'd be because when you're older your personality doesn't change that much, so I believe his will still be the same.

Reading Something Else By The Author

I would definitely want to read more books by Suzanne Collins, the author of Catching Fire. I mainly would like to read her book Mockingjay so I can find out what happens in the last Hunger Games book. The Hunger Games series is very interesting and I can't wait to see the last two movies when they finally come out.

Some Things You Just Can't Learn

Some things you just can’t learn by hearing it. I am eleven, foolish in my young age. I thought that one day, I would meet my first true love and that we’d be together forever. That we would get married and have children. It is like a fairy tale. But not all fairy tales have happy endings. Time flies by as if it has wings, I grow older; grow apart from my first love, though we still remain friends to this day. I have learned through time that a person will have more than one love throughout his or her life. Some things you just have to learn through experience.

About My Book

My book, Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins is basically about survival of the fittest. Years ago in a time called the Dark Days, District 13 rebelled against the Capitol, which is basically like a dictatorship of sorts. After wiping out District 13, the Capitol created the Hunger Games for the remaining twelve districts to compete in. There are two tributes from each district. One through twelve. There can only be one victor, but one competitor from District Twelve, Katniss Everdeen; defied the Capitol by forming an alliance with her district partner, Peeta Mellark. They were going to swallow poisonous berries so that there would be no victor, but one of the Gamemakers said to stop, and allowed there to be two victors. Now, because of this act of defiance, the Capitol is after Katniss and anyone else involved in the rebellion.
